PET strapping can be used for manual, battery-powered and fully-automatic strapping machines and is available in 9 – 25 mm strap width and up to 1,27 mm strap thickness. Furthermore, PET strapping can be differentiated according to its surface: embossed surface is standard, for heavy duty applications smooth strap is recommended as tensile strength is higher.
PET strap has substituted steel strap in many industries as it is a lot cheaper and does not hurt packaging staff or goods due to sharp edges or rust. In addition, PET strap's shock reserve is a lot higher and thus better absorbs impulsive loadings during transportation. Its higher elasticity compensates loss of tension when packaging goods lose volume over time (e.g. wood when it dries): Already at a loss in volume of only 1 % strapping tension is reduced to zero when steel strapping is used causing high risks for transportation safety. Finally, economies of at least 50% when shifting from steel to PET strap can be realized.
Besides standard PET strapping there is also a high tension type available; this is intended for use with packaging goods having very hard surfaces - as it is the case with concrete factories, for example. The use of specific additives prevents the strap from splicing when it is hit on the surface by a fully-automatic strapping machine.
Printing of your company logo or claim on the PET strap is also possible. Please contact one of our strapping specialists in order to discuss what is possible!
